Dr. James Dailey

Doctor James Dailey, a seasoned physician with over four decades of experience in the field of pathology. Since 1975, he has dedicated his life to studying, diagnosing, and understanding diseases, making meaningful contributions to the medical community along the way.

Currently serving as the owner and partner at Valley Pathology since 1987, he has had the privilege of working alongside esteemed colleagues and leading a team of passionate medical professionals. Through our collective expertise, we have consistently provided accurate and timely diagnoses, assisting patients in their journey towards recovery.

Throughout his career, he has been honored with several professional awards, which serve as a testament to his commitment to excellence in his field. These accolades have solidified his reputation as a trusted and respected pathologist, and have motivated him to continue pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge.

In addition to his clinical work, he has always believed in the importance of education and knowledge-sharing. Over the years, he has taken on numerous teaching responsibilities and has had the opportunity to deliver captivating presentations at various medical conferences.

​Outside of his professional endeavors, he is a proud husband and father, cherishing the love and support of his family. They have been pillars of strength throughout his career, encouraging him to strive for greatness and reminding him of the importance of work-life balance.

Dr. Virginia Dailey

Doctor Virginia Dailey is a dedicated and accomplished Resident Pathologist, currently serving as lead pathologist at Valley Pathology.

With an extensive background in the field, she has held various positions throughout her career that have allowed her to refine her expertise and contribute significantly to the medical community.

Her commitment to advancing medical knowledge has resulted in numerous publications and presentations throughout her career. She has contributed to various medical journals, sharing her findings and insights to facilitate the growth of the medical community. Furthermore, she is an active member of several prestigious medical organizations, including CAP, ASCP, ACLPS, USCAP, and AMA. These affiliations have allowed her to stay updated on the latest breakthroughs and advancements in pathology.

​As a highly skilled and experienced pathologist, she is genuinely passionate about contributing to the field of pathology and providing exceptional healthcare services. Her expertise, combined with a dedication to continuous learning and improvement, allows her to deliver outstanding results and make a lasting impact on patient outcomes.

Dr. William Budd

Dr. William Budd is an experienced laboratory leader in molecular and clinical diagnostics. He was educated at the Virginia Commonwealth University where he graduated with a PhD in Integrative Life Sciences and a Masters degree in Bioinformatics.

After a post-doctoral fellowship in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, During his time at VCU, Dr. Budd worked with a team to sequence the microbiome of vaginal samples. He led a team of clinical scientists and researchers at AIBiotech in Richmond, VA. Using the experience from the microbiome project, he developed a series of molecular diagnostic methods for diagnosis of vaginosis/ vaginitis and urinary tract infections as these common syndromes cost the US healthcare system billions of dollars annually.

In 2020, Dr Budd led the team at Compass Laboratory Services to develop and validate one of the earliest PCR tests for the SARS-CoV2 virus. Throughout the pandemic, he was active with the Shelby County/Memphis Covid Taskforce to ensure that testing was available to residents in the metro region. Working closely with public health authorities, he validated a multiplex PCR test for identification of Covid variants of concern to identify and stratify community risk of spread.

Dr. Budd joined the Valley Pathology team in 2023 as molecular diagnostics and operations specialist. He is active in multiple national organizations and continues to publish research findings. He is also heavily involved in the scientific community as a researcher and presenter at national/international conferences.

Julie Pitts

Julie Pitts, an experienced and dedicated professional with a strong background in the field of pathology. With over three decades of service at Valley Pathology, she has cultivated a wealth of knowledge and expertise in her role as an ASCP board certified histotechnician.

In 2004, she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, which has further enhanced her ability to effectively manage and contribute to the success of our team.

In both professional and personal aspects, she strives for excellence and longevity. She has been happily married to her husband, Matt, for 27 years. She is an avid dog lover and finds joy in spending quality time with loved ones.

Whitney Green

Whitney Green graduated from the renowned UAB School of Health Related Professions in 2006, where she honed her skills and knowledge in the discipline of cytology.

She is an ASCP board certified Cytotechnologist, active in continuing education to ensure that she stays up-to-date with the latest advancements and best practices in the field.

On a personal note, she is happily married to her husband, Seth, and has a wonderful son, Sam, who brings boundless joy to her life. Her family is passionate about sports and thoroughly enjoys watching them in their free time. She also takes pride in watching her son participate in basketball and baseball, supporting him every step of the way.

Morgan Stephens

Morgan Stephens is a dedicated Histotechnician at Valley Pathology. With a passion for precision and attention to detail, she ensures accuracy in the diagnosis of various medical conditions.

Outside of her professional life, she is a proud spouse and parent to two wonderful children, Kamryn and Landon. As a family-oriented individual, she finds great joy in exploring new destinations and creating lasting memories through travel.

​Additionally, she is actively involved in her daughter's equestrian pursuits. Weekends are often filled with horse shows, where she proudly supports and cheers her on as she competes.
